It's nice to hear someone with a positive attitude about such matters. I've been through it all, and other than John and his brothers, I don't believe such men exist. ;) So I will be content to just sit back every week and watch Andrew set the standard for what men could really be in this world if they knew what they actually wanted deep inside. It's much less complicating. ;) ===================================================================== Too exhausted to even look anymore, Sky Dancer ===================================================================== http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/3471/ ===================================================================== * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Virginia Beach, VA ---- Head for the Beach!!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ===================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Mar 1997 22:43:39 -0800 From: Kevin Brown To: TBAAngel @ .execpc.com, "'Mariann 0:)'" Subject: RE: Chat Line I just got home from a wonderful weekend in Victoria, BC. Another favorite quote, this is an exchange between Tess and the robber holding the bank hostage in the ep I title "4:59 PM": Robber: I've got the gun, that makes me God. Tess: You've turned your back on God, but He's still facing you, welcoming you. Robber: (disgusted) A religious nut. Here we go. Tess: You think you're God and *I'm* the religious nut?!?!? As I've said, I thought the client you use is quite irrelevant to the actual setting up of an irc channel on a given server, or rather on an irc net (e.g. undernet, etc.) ob TBAA: I haven't read through all my TBAA mail yet, but I thought last night's episode, though predictable, is much better than some of the recent ones -- and we get to see more of Roma! (Though John is feature quite a bit more as well) 8-) While we are talking about quality. Does anyone here catches "Daily Edition" which took over the old TBAA spot? I have been catching that show more regularly lately and find it have almost better story than TBAA in the last few weeks. May be there is magic in that spot! 8-) -- Vince --------------------------------------- vli @ q.ca ---,-'-{ @ . http://users.uniserve.com/~vincentl/ My mother used to say to me, "Elwood" - she always called me Elwood - "Elwood, in this world you must be oh-so clever, or oh-so pleasant." And those servers do NOT share rooms. However, all servers of the same type (ie all Comic Chat servers) share rooms. Comic Chat has at least three servers. comicsrv1.q.com, comicsrv2.q.com and comicsrv3.q.com. If you're in room #TBAA on comicsrv1, people in #TBAA on comicsrv2 can see and talk to you. > While we are talking about quality. I especially like the one where he had to choose between saving the 13 year old girl hit by a car or the plane that was about to crash. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Mar 1997 11:38:29 -0800 From: Vincent Li To: TBAAngel @ .execpc.com Subject: IRC stuff Hmmm...well, hope this doesn't get too "off topic", though I had replied previously to Kev. >From: Kevin Brown > >All three (Comic Chat, mIRC and PIRCH) use dedicated servers. If you're in room >#TBAA on comicsrv1, people in #TBAA on comicsrv2 can see and talk to >you. > I think there was just some confusion on the terminologies. I did a quick net search and all three (Comic Chat, mIRC and PIRCH), among others, are simply IRC "clients". Unless MS does something strange, in theory, there is nothing to prevent people using any of these to connect to the same "network". Looking at their FAQ, my understanding is that they probably come with a default set up, PIRCH to Dalnet, mIRC to Undernet and Comic Chat to the MS irc net. But I don't see why any of these clients, CC, PRICH, mIRC, couldn't simply add one of the servers to any of these other networks and connect to the same network and chat, as explained by Kevin for the MS comic net. The point is that we DO have to be on the same "network" but not necessarily on the same "server", or computer, since the server, or computer on the same network talk to each other, as Kevin says. The "client" is irrelevant. It's just the program you run on your home computer, which will talk to your local service provider's computer, which in turn connects to the computer (server) you tell your "client" to connect for the IRC which let you access communication between these servers. This is also the reason why there was such an uproar about the MS '95 software because it comes with all these "client" applications that will default connection to the MS network, and many people think that's all there is to the net. It's not! And if Comic Chat doesn't let you connection to any other IRC server/networks, I'd say it sucks! 8-) Now, if the server deliberately keeps other clients out, like those with AOL, that's yet another different matter. Getting back to the original thread, so which network are we going on? Undernet? MS Net/Comic net? Dalnet (PIRCH default)? EFnet? ??? That plus the channel name (e.g. #TBAA) is all we really need to know! 8-) ob TBAA: hmmm...well, they are doing reruns again next week. 8-) -- Vince --------------------------------------- vli @ q.ca ---,-'-{ @ . http://users.uniserve.com/~vincentl/ My mother used to say to me, "Elwood" - she always called me Elwood - "Elwood, in this world you must be oh-so clever, or oh-so pleasant."
