I disagree. People continually put their own free will ahead of God's and still get into Heaven. Also, I remember reading in CCM magazine (Compentory Christian music) where a member of a Christian singing group committed suicide. The editor or someone affiliated with the magazine later said something about God forgiving the singer because He knew what the guy was going through in his life. It showed the power that God's love has to change lives and the hollowness of life without hope. The only problem I had with it was they didn't show what happened to the crossword lady. It's a problem TBAA has occasionaly: they run out of time, and sacrifice some plot developemnt. Usually, I find that it's because they add in characters that aren't always necessary for the story (ie: the romance author in Something Blue, and the gossipy woman in Labor of Love). This time I believe they just had more story and characters than an hour could hold. I can't think of any scence they could have cut without lessening the impact of the show. I think of many times I've done that in my own life: become so sure *I* know what's going to happen, that I miss what I'm supposed to do. On 3/31 Diane E >but where will "Amethyst" sleep tonight? It wasn't mentioned where, but I think when he took Amethyst over and introduced her to the wife it was implied that she was finding a place for the girl to stay. And speaking of the wife-- I really liked her character. She was very real to me and I loved her line about seeing the light on Monica's words and knowing the truth but being too afraid to say so. Hi guys, I'm probably crazy for posting this now because I'm about to leave for a vacation to visit my brand new neice and I'll be nomail on the TBAA list for almost 2 weeks as of later today. If you reply to this message would you please also make sure I get a copy in private mail? I thought of another episode I'd kinda like to see. It's not what I consider to be a likely scenario, but with Martha's incredible skill it could be very interesting. We know that when the angels take human form they occasionally have human foibles. Monica often has her "instinct" or gets caught up in her feelings (the goodness of Robert Hayes' character in "Groundrush", the judging of Pete in "There But for the Grace of God") She even sometimes, not for long, but sometimes, gets caught up in being "human" and seems to put the knowlege that she's an angel on the back burner so to speak. All that was supposed to be a setup to the scenario. I'd like to see an angel fall in love. Puppy love, a crush, whatever. Not the pure God's Love that we see every week, but the good old-fashioned romantic-type physical love that we humans have. Pleasures of the flesh and all that. We saw Clair's teacher get *very* interested in Monica in "Angels on the Air," and she acknowleged it when she asked if they'd (she and Tess) be back that way again. How about she fall for someone? Or Andrew fall for someone? or get sidetracked and *think* they were falling for someone? Could be interesting. An angel, knowing the purity of Love, getting interested in exploring the more physical side of affection? Could be *quite* interesting! Not that I think they'd ever really try it.... I should add that I'm not talking about sex here. I know that TBAA is rated for all family members, including kids and I don't think that should change. I think that, with care, they could explore the themes above without getting above a Y7 rating, yet still get the point across. And it might do the youngsters in the audience good to see the angel's opinions on physical love. And I'd trust Martha to handle the subject well. Just a romantic at heart..... ;-) Di <*> sudduthdj @ . .addy.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Apr 1997 10:16:52 -0600 (CST) From: Darla Bradley To: tbaangel @ . .execpc.com Subject: For Susan Sullivan Susan, I tried sending this to you earlier, but it was returned to me as undeliverable. Here's the post, in its entirety: Susan, I think your homepage for John Dye is great!!! I'm glad you had the time and patience to put it together. I look forward to updates! As for John Dye and TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, I love the show, and the actor, too. . . John Dye portrays Andrew with such gentleness and compassion. . .he has the kindest eyes I've ever seen. . .no actor in the world is good enough to completely fake that for the camera. Those qualities have to come from deep within. I've never met John Dye, but I'm sure he is a wonderful man. His own gentleness, sensitivity, and love of people is very evident in the persona of Andrew. TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL is very lucky to have him as a cast member; we, his fans, are lucky to be able to watch him each week. I think TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL is the finest show on TV today. It is an hour of inspiration and hope in a world that sometimes moves too fast, and gives priority to the meaningless and trivial. I hope to be watching TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL for many seasons to come, and I hope John sees fit to stay with the show for its duration. He's a real asset to both the cast, and the show itself. The point being that God understands and is compassionate, IMHO. And in TBAA we see angels and other humans praying to God asking forgiveness or whatever for someone. Andrew was essentially praying for the older couple in "The Journalist", and there's *no* doubt in my mind that he was going to bring them to God if they *did* commit suicide. I'm also remembered of a few suicides depicted on TV where the person mutters a "God, please forgive me for what I'm about to do" prayer just before jumping off a bridge or pulling the trigger. If God is all knowing and powerful and human spirits endure beyond death, is it so hard to accept that a spirit could ask for forgiveness even when their flesh was no longer able to speak? Just MHO. I don't believe in any 'higher' sort of authority. However, I've finally learned to have an open mind. I used to HATE this show and would turn off the TV so I wouldn't have to watch it. Then I saw an ad for it, with John Dye as Andrew with The Glow (tm) around him, saying 'It doesn't have to be your time.', from the ep 'Rock 'n Roll Dad'. Can we say 'hooked'? Yup. I prefer European history, particular British, Irish, Welsh, Scottish. You get my point. :) I can tolerate most any kind of music, 'cept Country/Western and hardcore rap. As for TV, I hate most sitcoms (the only one I watch with any regularity is The Nanny). I generally like the offbeat stuff, the SF of course. I don't like the horror stuff. I don't watch X-Files, even tho I think David Duchovny is cute. As Jennie and Diane can attest, I'm also a Forever Knight fan (elder statesbat for the FK lists). I like SF/F, but unfortunately don't have time to read as much as I'd like. My favorite tv shows right now are TBAA (no-brainer :), Babylon 5 (IMHO, the best thing on TV other than TBAA), Blake's 7 (yes, we can actually /get/ that here in Cincinnati), Eagle Riders (yet another ripoff of Gatchaman, a Japanese 'toon), and JAG (Don Bellisario is way cool. See, my fellow Penn Staters make it big. He's a nice guy IRL, too. :) I work as a customer service rep (now in training for our internal helpdesk) for DirecTV. The job's okay, 'cept when there's piles of cranky customers. :) I like kittycats and am working on getting a new apartment which will let me keep my Pounce and one of her new kittens. If you want to know more about what I like, there's a horribly out-of-date webpage available (see my .sigfile). Oh, one final note. Someone mentioned liking to watch NASCAR racing.
