Even tho Andrew was upset and confused about they whys and wherefores of the situation, he would have taken them "home" if that's what God wanted. I think TBAA has dealt with suicide many times, but mostly in suttle ways (how many times have we seen Andrew standing "watching" someone who wants to take their life). Why do the angels not step in? Well I think that goes back to that "free will" thing again (I've never seen a time where Andrew tried to stop someone, unless I've missed one), it's our choice to decide whether to take our lives. But I still think an episode dealing with that subject would be neat. There are alot of subjects I could think of that I would like to see TBAA deal with. Well that's enough for me. Sorry if I sound like a religious finatic, I *really* don't mean to. But having been there once (when I was younger), and having lost someone to suicide (an Uncle), I wish there would have been someone who could have told me these things then. Maybe there would have been less pain and confusion on my part. And yes, most people who try and/or do commit suicide *are* really in an intense amount of pain. Until later. TTFN. I was upable to view Sunday's TBAA. However some comments made on the episode titled LAST CALL reminded me of a saying I heard as a child years ago. It was "TO ERR IS HUMAN BUT TO FORGIVE IS DEVINE". Remember what part of the Lord's Prayer says. FORGIVE US OUR TRESSPASSES AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESSPASS AGAINST US. Forgiving those who have hurt and/or offended you when they apologize & ask for forgivness is very important & Godly. However besides forgiving those who offend and/or abuse/hurt us the best thing we can do is pray for them. God does forgive & so should we. I know it's easier said than done & is often very hard to do. However if we are to emmulate God as best we can we must also forgive when we are asked to. Soory to sound like a preacher. However this might be the very point that is waiting to be made. It sure appears this is the case when I read messages referring to Sunday's episode. Thanks! Best always! "Act of God" days are not made up. School districts are given money according to the number of students present at school within a specific number of calendar days in which school is in session. Greetings, Several observations: I agree with Diane "E" and Diana "deelady" that last Sunday's episode had the old "zing" of TBAA which has been missing of late. It was, for me, a very profound show. Ernest Kurtz & Katherine Ketcham made this observation: "Therapy offers explanations; spirituality offers forgiveness...Therapy may release *from* addiction; spirituality releases *for* life." To those who are concerned with the cross-word puzzle lady: Does it matter what her pain was? She would talk of nothing but cross-words. Monica's gift was "forgiveness." And it seemed to me the gift of "forgiveness" was not God's forgiveness that she offered, but, the most difficult of all, the forgiveness of ourselves! It seemed to me, that all were ***released from their judgements about their own selves!!!*** Released by forgiveness for life. Aren't we toughest on ourselves...limit and bind up ourselves more then any others? That seems to me the point of the episode and what each character did to their selves. I think it easy to believe that God forgives me; but it is very scary because God is going to ask me to forgive my self and forgiving myself will disturb the familiar patterns I've established in life. The folks in the episode didn't seem to be faithful folks; worried about God forgiving them. IMO, everyone's own personal judgments had trapped them into a pattern of behavior; i.e.hiding behind something, really from their selves; blaming something else. Lotto-personal achievement; a crippled hand-personal worth, a cross-word puzzle-any other kind of conversation, a wheelchair-anger less happiness, a dependent husband-self generated worth, booze-the salesmen's relationship with his daughter; criminal-any kind of friend. Forgiving themselves, I think, gave them all a possibility of relationship with others. I can't get that scene from Homecoming, Part 1, out of my mind. Delta Burke confesses to selling her little boy of $50.00 and Monica responds "He'll [God'll] stick with you even if you won't and forgive you even if you can't..." The only problem, IMO, in the show that was not dealt with by forgiveness is Amethyst's physical problem of a night's lodging. I think Becky got that one when she wrote: "I thought that Tim Reed's character had the wife find her a place to stay. It wasn't mentioned where, but I think when he took Amethyst over and introduced her to the wife it was implied that she was finding a place for the girl to stay." HA! Amethyst got a relationship as well... Dick, WARNING: Religious material to follow: This episode reminded me of Max Lucado's book, "Six Hours One Friday." He speaks of Jesus forgiving the theft crucified along with him. Then observes "...Jesus performs the greatest miracle of the cross. Greater than the earthquake. Greater than the tearing of the temple curtain. Greater than the darkness. Greater than the resurrected saints appearing on the streets. He performs the miracle of forgiveness. A sin-soaked criminal is received by a blood-stained Savior. 'Today you will be with me in Paradise.' The ones that made my wife and I cry the most were written by someone else but it was obvious that the scenario was hers. In short, let her come up with the theme and even the situation. Tim Van Patten directed the episode from a script by Rosanne Welch and Christine Pettit. Monica starts spending time with the reclusive resident, George, in an attempt to restore his zest for life and make him realize that, despite his age, he still has much to offer. When she realizes that his feelings for her are fast turning from friendship to love, she learns, for the first time, how much it hurts to break someone else's heart and, as hard as the truth may be, she must reveal her true self to him. She didn't remove prayer from schools, just school led prayer. As for "Act of God", that's a trivial example. Our money mentions God. Congress prays before every session. And on and on. Personally I believe there's a faction out there that wants a "freedom FROM religion" instead of "freedom OF religion". I think we should remove the half of this and half of that. Treat churches like a business. They have to pay taxes and they can also contribute money to politics. They get to rent rooms in public buildings and they have to meet standard building codes. Let me say I have really enjoyed reading the letters. I agree with most of them and think that TBAA is the very best program of it's type of TV today. I believe it is being used of God to speake to people about ETERNITY. Tess is right it is a "GOD THING" therefore He is watching over it and using it. I have been very interested in the remarks concerning "suicide"....However, I would like to say that while this program is being used of God and I love it...let's never forget that it is a Program and not the Bible, and that these are real people who are subject to error just like all of us and not "REAL ANGELS." I know that God is full of compassion and not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repen- tence. He also says "unless ye repent ye shall all likewise perish." IMHO and I believe the Bible concurs that we are not held accountable for actions if we are not responsible mentally. I believe if one should have a mental break, and they were a real true christian in the eyes of God, and had a breakdown and committed suicide, that they would go to Heaven. However, I do not see where the Bible makes any provisions for repentence after one has left the body. There it would be hard for one to have an assurance of heaven for a person who was not a christian in God's eyes and committed this act in that state, whatever be their con- dition. I know God's mercy goes a long ways, and I hope that somehow there is a provision that we know not of; however, IMHO this is known only to God. Sorry if I have bored you; I didn't mean to. God Bless.
