If we follow along with the premise that it is OUR choice to choose God or not (EP where the guy died and had a choice between the light or darkness) than I cannot believe God would ban someone from heaven who truly loved him. It would be inconsistent with free will and His love. Now, whether or not that can be addressed on TV would be a pretty flammable subject based on what reaction people would have to TBAA saying God will love you whether you commit suicide or not. What happens if someone who is seriously ill and sees that on TV decides its ok to take his life (circumstances being that he may be a horrible financial drain on his family or something)? Wouldn't the show be setting itself up for a legal fall? I agree it is a topic that REALLY needs to be addressed. Perhaps we should all pray in our own respective ways that God will speak to Martha or the cast/Rev. Johnnie/whoever implicitly in regards to doing such an EP. I'm sure it would soothe the hearts of many who have been taught suidicide is deplorable in God's eyes and have lost loved ones to it. I cannot believe God would not love one of his children simply because they made a mistake. ===================================================================== In Love and Light, Sky Dancer ===================================================================== http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/3471/ ===================================================================== * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Virginia Beach, VA ---- Head for the Beach!!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ===================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Apr 1997 22:00:08 -0500 (EST) From: Signpraise @ .addy.com To: tbaangel @ .execpc.com Subject: Re: Sunday's ep In a message dated 97-04-01 20:43:42 EST, you write: << >>To those who are concerned with the cross-word puzzle lady: Does it matter what her pain was? That's why she was at the bar, that's why she was hiding in the crossword puzzles. What happened to her? Once she received the "miracle", she was "lonely" no more, God would be with her from then on out to be her friend. Why do I think this, let's just say been there, done that.:-( >> Wow...I really appreicaite your being so open and honest!!! I agree with you and the other person who said that it really doesn't matter what her pain is...Monica offered her the gift of forgiveness...A very special gift indeed...That in itself is a miralce. As far as being lonely and hiding behind her pain...I understand fully why, been there, done that and sometimes still struggle with it but I know beyond a shadow of a dobut, that God, Jesus Christ loves me and has plan for my life. In the Bible, He promised: "For I know the thoughts that I have towards you says the Lord thoughts of peace and not of evil, plans to give me a hope and a future. Then yyou will call on me and pray to Me, and I will listen to you." Plenty of quotes from the show to encouage you and anyone whom you may say/write them to. It's good for people to be reminded how much God Loves them. I love this book you can actually hear Tess, Monica or Andrew speaking these words as you read them. All of you will be blessed and encouraged. Some of you will(as with the show) be comforted because a lot of what they say is straight from God's favorite book of all...The Bible. Someone once said that the word Bible stands for: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth How's that for a "little word of truth?" It would be a > very funny episode I think if that person's infatuation interfered with > the angel doing their job. That would be pretty funny, but I think it would come off better with Monica. The first idea mentioned as well would come off better with Monica...her innocence seems like it would be more open to it. Andrew just seems like he's past that. What I wouldn't mind seeing with Andrew is an EP where he helps someone who has been abused (doesn't have to be physical, there are alot of emotionally abusive men out there) and thinks she has to "cater" to men, find her self-respect through making her see that people can care about you without wanting those same physical pleasures. John portrays Andrew's love so purely, I just can't see him falling into a trap. I can see a woman used for the 100th time down on her knees praying to God that he'll send her the "grace" to learn to avoid these men so her children don't have to go through another bad relationship with her again (like men who run out without a moments notice), while Tess, Monica, and Andrew watch on. There are alot of women out there that are never taught to respect themselves, or to expect respect from the men they meet. They go on again and again in relationships that mimic the way their parents and their parents before them treated each other. I think that would be a rather powerful message in today's times. It's already been answered re: that Miriam lady. I only know of her cos of a story about her on 60 Minutes. As for why I got into TBAA? Yes, it was Andrew/John Dye. Speaking of him, someone had asked the other day if Andrew had ever /not/ taken someone, when it was 'their time'. In 'Rock 'n Roll Dad', he kinda fudged things and nudged the kid into not giving up her will to live. Technically, he wasn't supposed to do that, but he did, and Tess helped save her life. This is a lot different from the ep with the old foster parents, because he was willing to take them to heaven, but he didn't want to. The difference is that in the latter example, he was told that it wasn't their time. In the first one, it was the girl's time, only he was given the leeway to help her live. There was no real future purpose for the kid, unlike the foster parents. He just didn't want her to die. And as for my handle, Darla... it's sort of a take on the idea that there's always ONE kid in kindergarten that likes to eat crayons and paste. I personally never did, but the comment has gotten rather... amusing responses from a gentleman acquaintance of mine. But this is a family list, so I won't elucidate. >:) Oh, btw, someone had asked the other day how one joins the AiA (Andrew is Adorable Society). You just do. Join up, have a party. There's no officers or anything. The only 'title' there is mine, as the Founder. All you need to do to join is post onlist that you're in. Also, because we don't want to offend John, we're not really much into the drooling stuff. We do, but we do it quietly, so as not to offend him and our other listmembers who would rather focus on his acting ability and the family aspect of things. LOL Actually, Ken LaZebnik wrote the last week's ep, and the ep was also directed by Gene Reynolds. Didn't he also direct some MASH eps? While we're talking about connections, the new ep before this, "Six Hands" I think: Stuart Margolin appeared in and directed that ep. He played Angel Martinez in "The Rockford Files". How Andrew said it doesn't matter how many ladders of good works you try to climb to get into Heaven you'll always fall short. God wants you to admit your shortcomings and extend your hands and say "pick me up daddy". So yes He knows who we are, BUT we must listen to His voice and spend time with Him.(that's where the "know them" part comes in) Once you've been saved doesn't mean it's a free ride. Well I think that goes back to that "free will" thing >again (I've never seen a time where Andrew tried to stop someone, unless I've missed one) There were eps where a human comes and "talks the guy off the ledge". (the ep about the teen center, the pastor, his son, and the pregnant girl) I don't know for sure, but I'm sure that Andrew is praying for God to send someone to stop this terrible thing from happenning. Also the one where Andrew is lead to find the old couple in their car trying to die from CO poisoning. I would say that Andrew "talked them off the ledge". But then he did his holy angel glow.
