I enjoyed the archeaologist episode; lots of really nice integration of the
beleifs of both societies.  I'm a history major, so I can really appreciate
the idea of wanting to learn about the past by examining artifacts instead of
just reading about it.

Andrew had a small, but nice, part.  I'm curious about the line about the
angel of death having many duties-anybody have any ideas what these would be?
 When would he bring "good news"?

 Yes, several people have already said that they would like to have a TBAA
list reunion in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Wouldn't that be great to be able to
walk on the same grounds where our favorite show is filmed and get a chance
to meet all of  the characters that we talk so much about?!!  I can imagine
all of us having a mini convention and having a chance much like the Oprah
audience did but even better because we'd be able to talk a much longer time
with them and ask them our own questions and get a chance to take pictures
with then and at the same time be able to see each other's faces and be able
to bond in a  unique way.
Of course we'd all have to have some of Monica's heavenly Mocha Latte. ( I
hope I spelled that right...I honestly do not like coffee at all, but I am
intersted in trying this Mocha Latte and seeing what the big deal Monica is
always talking about.
Perhaps we would be an inspiration to an even newer book for Martha to put
out about how TBAA has changed so many people's lives...Hey, we've certanily
got a lot of stories to share about how an ep has change, encouraged or has
had a serious effect on us in one way or the other.
Well, only time will tell if this little dream of ours will actully take
place, but until then, everyone stay encouraged and we must always remember
how much God really does love us..no matter what!! 0:-)

when one has suffered a long time before dying -- as with various forms
of cancer -- death would come as "good news" imho.

I've been a member of this list for only a short while, and I've
posted several times, but am yet to introduce myself.  My name is Tina
Goin.  I was born and spent nearly 14 years in Champaign, Illinois(GO
ILLINI!), and I now live in Schertz, Texas, which is about 15 miles
from San Antonio.  I am a 21-year-old junior at Southwest Texas State
University in San Marcos, Texas, and my hobbies are babysitting,
collecting "Precious Moments", working as the child care department
director at my church, and watching TBAA.

  I don't remember exactly when I began watching, but I think the
first episode I saw was "Cassie's Choice", about the 15-year-old who
was pregnant and ran away with her baby.  The ending made me cry - a
lot!!  I've been hooked ever since.  I hope when God told Della Reese
"10 years", He really meant it!:)  I, like every other member of the
list, dream of meeting the cast someday, especially John.  I've had
many
 "longshots" in my life come true, so anything is possible...

  Well, now ya'll (yes, I guess I've been "Texan-ized") know a bit
about me, and I've learned a bit about some of you from your posts.

I don't mean to sound morbid, but the "good news" you refer to might be in
the instance of a loved one that is in the process of dying and then has
finally died and gone to Heaven, a much, much better place than earth could
ever possibly be.   I know, because I'm speaking from personal experience.
 My father-in-law is dying, and while I don't want him to leave us, I do wish
for him to be in a much better place than the one he is in right now.  I know
that Heaven awaits him, and that is why I can say this.

a TBAA hat from the CBS Store (the white logo on
blue).

It is a beauty! A tad expensive ($16.95 + S&H) but
it's a quality piece of merchandise. If you've been
tempted, I'd recommend it.

Subject: My NEW Favorite Episode, #309, "Into the Light"

I just sent this off to the Webangel, and wanted to share it with the group.
In my intro, I said that "Labor of Love" was my favorite ep--not anymore.  I
did not see "Into the Light" when it was first broadcast.  I saw it for the
first time the week following the broadcast of "Labor of Love."  (I think
"Into the Light" was re-broadcast on 16 March 1997.)

Here's the letter:

I did not see this episode in its first run, but now I have to say that it
is definitely my favorite.  I have it on tape, and I have watched it over
and over since it was rebroadcast in March, 1997.  

I liked TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL before seeing this episode, although my viewing
was sporadic.  "Into the Light" really "hooked" me. . .now, I never miss an
episode.

Amy Ann echoed my own deepest, darkest fears when she said, "What if I die,
and there isn't a heaven?  What if I die, and there's no God?  What if
there's only darkness, after all?"  I am a Christian, and have always been
taught to "take it on faith," but I think it is a human failing that we tend
to question the existence of God when our lives are at their lowest point.

I cry each time I watch this episode.  I loved the part where Monica and
Andrew reveal themselves to James.  Monica's words to James were so
beautiful.  I also loved the part where Andrew came for Amy Ann--the
gentleness and compassion of Andrew was displayed in this episode to the
best I've ever seen it.  I'm so glad the "Andrew" character was made a
regular! (John Dye lends a special touch to this role; he's wonderful in it.)

Roma Downey, John Dye, and Della Reese are a perfect casting combination.
These roles seem like they were created just for them. . .no better "angels"
could be found, anywhere.

I love this show, and you can be sure that I will be a regular viewer from
now on!

Actually, 'Written in Dust' is a third season episode, so John Dye *was* a
regular by then.  We just didn't see much of him that ep.  :-(    And, of
course, they made him stand at the top of that promontory for a long time.
 He mentioned *really* not liking heights, poor guy.

I think Roma's voice is ok and all.  But I think the singing in the show
should all be done with Della.  what a powerfull voice Della has.  It still

I think it means that Andrew is also a case worker so sometimes he would
naturally be the bearer of good news.  Also, maybe sometimes people were
supposed to die, but God has given them a second chance to live like in the
Into the Light ep...for the man and his wife (sorry, I can't remember their
names) this young couple learned the good news about God's unconditional
love...that is certanily great news!!! Plus he didn't die after all, but he
lived.
Another job may be helping the family members and close friends of a loved
one who will or has died to cope with it.  And remember how he helped the
teacher who was thrown into his car  trunk by the robber/kidnapper and his
girlfriend, Andrew was right there with him right after he was shot just to
comfort him and assure him that if he did die he would have eternal
life..."on one side there is life and on the other side, there is life too."
 I hope this answers your question.  This is JMHO.

	It would be really special to be able to spend a day, with the TBAA cast 
and crew.  Better yet two, as I would like to spend one day watching an episode 
being filmed, and one day meeting all of them, and as you say, bonding with 
them.  Of course, it would be extra special too, in that it would give me the 
chance to meet my friends from this list too (and I'd *really* like to meet 
quite alot of you :).
	And I too would like to try some Mocha Latte.
	It still amazes me that TBAA has had so many different touches in 
peoples lives.  The stories and the people may be different, but the "touch" is 
the same.  It is truely a God thing.  Even for those who don't believe in God, 
it seems to give that special something to their lives as well.  I thank God 
each day for the messages I "learn" from the shows, but also for the friendships 
that have developed as a result of a common interest in the show.  One has 
become very special and dear to me, so I'd have a double reason for wanting to 
go to Utah (as my friend also lives there).
	I can't wait until Sunday for the next episode, the only thing I can see 
that I don't like already is that John/Andrew will be wearing his hair pulled 
back.  I think he looks *much* handsomer with it down!! (of course it could be 
because I have a "thing" for guys with shoulder length hair!!)
	Well, I had better close.  Ya'll (I spent 5 yrs in GA., so I too have 
that southern twang, plus I live in southern Ohio) take care.  TTFN

No joke!  I like John's/Andrew's hair down, too.  (I also like men with
shoulder length hair. . .)I have a male friend in Peoria who is a brown-eyed
brunette, and a real cutie, also.  He, too, has shoulder-length hair.

Maybe Andrew's hair won't be pulled back for the entire ep.  It always looks
so gorgeous when he starts to "glow", and the light shines on it.

I know this is a little off subject, but I'd like to know. . .please.
(Deelady's comment about John's/Andrew's hair got me thinking.)  John Dye
was also in the series, TOUR OF DUTY, I'm told.  I never saw that one.  He
played a doctor in the Army in Vietnam.  Bet he wore short hair in that one.
Did he look drastically different?  Was short hair as becoming on him as is
his long hair?  Bet I would've enjoyed that series. I'm old enough to
remember the Vietnam War very well. . .

Hi all. I just thought I'd introduce myself, even though I probably will be
a bit of a lurker. Hope no one minds. :)

I have always watched TBAA whenever I wandered by the tube while it was on,
but I didn't really get into it until this past fall. For some reason, I
woke up one morning with this strange desire to learn more about my faith,
the angel interest sorta fell into place right after. :) I started paying
attention a bit more to what TBAA was saying (John Dye helped catch my
interest too, I freely admit it. ;) and I think it's really helped me find
my own little "nook" in spirituality. (I am a practicing Catholic, but I
now consider myself a bit more...tolerant :) 

On a personal/lifestyle level, I'm definatly not a "normal" person (but
then again, what IS "normal" anyway?). I am a Catholic Libertarian (not
quite so much an oxy-moron as it first appears) who is a Nerd and major
Trekker. (Code of life: IDIC - "Infinate Diversity in Infinate
Combinations" as Spock would explain :) 

I am active in my local 4-H club, have three horses, breed Russian
hamsters, and love photography, reading, drawing, and life :) I am
home-schooled, and plan on becoming a medical doctor. 

I an active (maybe a little TOO active) in the online world, I run two Star
Trek announcement/mailing lists (TrekScoop - weekly Trek news, and Star
Trek Top Ten List of the Day - a weekday mailing of a humorous TTL related
to Trek) and own both a Star Trek web page
(http://www.addy.net/~jcgibson/main.htm) and an "Inspirational Angel" page
(Christian random quotes in Java script)
(http://www.addy.net/~jcgibson/inspire.htm). I help out at being "SYSOP" at
a Web Star Trek chat room from time to time, write a bit of fan fiction,

I'll quit before you get TOO bored. <G> Let's just say that I'm looking
forward to other views on TBAA, but as you can see, I have a busy life (as
well as being on ten zillion other lists ;) so don't be surprised if I turn
out to be a chronic lurker.

I think it would also be great to go and meet everyone from the list and of
course the cast and crew.  It would turly be special.  But I think it would
be neat if we as their fan club was used in a crowd seen as extras.
Wouldn't that be fun to do.  Just a thought.

	I never seen TOUR OF DUTY either, but I have seen "Perfect Weapon", and 
"Best of the Best".  Perfect Weapon was really good.  In BOTB, John not only had 
shorter hair but a small beard!!  Definately did not look like the Andrew we all 
know!  But still cute just the same, although I think he was cutest (if there is 
such a word) in Campus Man (which I have not seen, I cannot find a copy anywhere 
:(, but I did see the clips from the JDHP, thanks to Susan).  But whether he has 
short hair, long hair, beard or not, he's still the same John/Andrew in both 
films.  What I mean is, his personallity that we all love shines in both filks, 
no matter what character he portrayed.  
	But Darla, if you're a true mad AiA person, you've gotta see BOTB for 
one scene.  It's at the beginning of the film, where his character meets another 
character, and I won't tell you exactly what it is, except you will drool!!  
Sooo.... what are ya waiting for go to Blockbuster .... and drool....
	I too remember Vietnam, tho not as well as my brother who was in it.  
I'm 36 (or will be May 28).  He's 50.
