If any of you have been emailing to me privately, *please* cc it to Deelady @ . addy.net, as eri is being a *real* big pain in the you-know-where!! I can, and have received, my mail from the list, as I have subscribed both addresses to see who's the best ISP (guess who's winning!), so Jennie and Diane, I have at least gotten those with noooo problems (Thank God). It was working fine yesterday, but it seems like every Sunday there is a "problem". And *always* when tech support *isn't* avaiable!! Talk about getting irritated! Ok, enough for now. I'm going to try and "fix" my other mail programs dialer, as it "crashed". Maybe I should just get a boyfriend who does computers??? Oh well. Until later. Maybe we should just say J/AiA and that would make it a complete statement. Not only is he adorable, but he has set the standard for men whom I meet to match (namely they must have the Godly type qualities he possesses, I say Godly cause if they don't believe, they don't usually have the gentleness and compassion John has, so it must come from his faith in God). Can you figure this one out ... GCALJS? This one's mine. Can't agree with you, there. And to be completely frank, if I were a non-Christian man, I think I'd be very offended at that statement, as it *sounds* as if you're saying only a Christian man can be compassionate and gentle. I realize that may not be what you *meant*, but that's how it sounded to me. As far as my own experience goes, I've known far too many "Christian" men (note the quotes, please) who think their faith gives them the right to talk down to me and generally treat me like a second-class citizen. (Paul of Tarsus has a *lot* to answer for in that regard, IMHO.) Frankly, in my experience, a man's (or woman's, for that matter) willingness to accept that he does not have The Answers has a lot more to do with his compassion than his religion. In point of fact, the people I've met who believe their religion (Christian, Muslim, whatever) gives them The Answer tend to be the most obnoxiously un-compassionate. People who are certain they are right tend not to make allowances for other people's viewpoints or mistakes, and thus are far less likely to show compassion for others' weaknesses, IMHO. One of the things I've really, *really* liked about TBAA is how they didn't fall into the "God is the Father, therefore Male is superior" BS that so many of the more recherche denominations seem attached to. Andrew's boss is Tess, and he's cool with that. In fact, it's blatantly *not* an issue with any of the angels. Which is a lesson a lot of the world could stand to learn, IMHO. Subtle, but believable. And doesn't John Dye do great double-takes? Andrew looked completely flummoxed when Monica told him who she was. Knowing, from last week's preview, that George ends up falling for Monica, I can see it coming. He was obviously flirting with her in the park scene. And Monica, equally obviously, didn't catch it. Which makes perfect sense, because Monica just doesn't think of herself as 'available'. When TBAA hits their mark, they're *so* good at the subtle interplay! Well, that's my opinion of the show before the first commercial break. Anybody else on-line as it plays in the midwest? :) Let's get some chatter going during the commercial breaks! TOUCHE'!! Ouch, I hate it when someone ups me. Just kidding. :) You're so right, and I *well deserved* that slam!!! **Thank you for putting me back on track**. I appologize to one and all, especially you guys out there. *Please* forgive me. I should know better than to make such statements, as I know first hand all about how someone who is a "christian" (yes the quotes are in order) can slam someone in a very non-christian way!! It hasn't been that long ago that I learned that valueable lesson the hard way!! (Just ask my ex-husband, who is the teacher of that lesson) You'd think I'd have remembered. I *hate* when someone treats someone else as tho they are second-class. I have received alot of that in the past 3 months from "christians" because of my divorce, so I'm *really upset* with myself for doing the same to others who may not have a belief in God. But I best stop, or I'll have myself depressed from being just like them. As for my views on this week's episode, I loved the letter she left for her "roomie". And her statement to Andrew: human love is so complicated. It's so true. It was a very moving episode, and I ended up having to leave the room at the end again (in our "family" you don't cry, it's forbidden). I agree the makeup was good, but Roma's portrail of an old lady was convincing, I almost forgot she wasn't old. Of course next week is one of my favs. Although I do hope the run the Journalist episode again soon. Well, I guess I've done enough damage for one day. Again I appologize to one and all for my rash statement. Until later. I really enjoyed Roma's work-she did a great job under all that uncomfortable makeup! She played 80 very convincingly. I was kind of surprised Monica was able to revert to being young voluntarily, since it seemed she "aged" INvoluntarily-guess God trusted that she'd know when to do it. Always like Darren McGavin a lot-did anyone else notice that the part where he says "It's a date" was different from the one they showed in the previews? Or was I hallucinating? Also, I thought he looked a lot like George C. Scott-appropriate since Patton figured so strongly in the story- I felt the Evil Rest Home Keeper part was sort of cliched and not really necessary-this story had plenty of plot already-and what sort of family would put their loved ones in a home that was run like that anyhow? Couldn't the rest home supervisor have just been jaded or tired, but not actively repressive (and carrying a childhood trauma to boot)? I mean, hers was a sad story, but they brought it in when the show was almost over-maybe it could've been introduced sooner. I thought it was a great touch to show Andrew so concerned when Monica became ill-he looked so worried it was really touching! John did a geat job! I never thought that the angels had to deal with the fact that their human forms could fail them so drastically-was there ever a possiblity that Monica would actually die? Or was it that Andrew was upset at seeing Monica in pain? Either way-great job! I've never seen next week's ep-everyone else says it's a good one, tho, so I'll look forward to it! Now that I know that it means "Andrew is adorable" I totally agree. I too would like to add my name to the list of fans who share this opinion. I don't think I can pick just one favorite episode. This show is an inspiration to me. I tape it and watch at least one episode every day. It helps me relax after a long hard day at work. -------------------------------- End of tbaangel-d Digest V97 Issue #37 **************************************
