My name is Marion and I've been "lurking" for a few weeks. I'm 33, married to a terrific guy, and have two beautiful sons. I'm relatively new to TBAA. I started watching about 3 months ago. My four year old is the one who got me started. I guess I've always believed in angels, but something happened a few months that made me realize that angels aren't just in my heart, but also among us. My 4 year old son, Lucas, has two "imaginary" friends named Peter and Eli, who are both angels. (Eli was originally a knight, but something happened and he became an angel.) Anyway, I picked Lucas up from pre-school a few months ago. We talked about our usual stuff and then Lucas picked up my cell phone and began to talk, very quietly so that I couldn't hear what he was saying. When he was finished, I asked him who he was talking to. He told me it was Peter and that Peter was in heaven. I thought, "How nice. He has such a great imagination!" Well, he wasn't finished. Lucas told me that Peter had seen my mom (she died 9 years ago) and that my mom said to tell me she missed me and that she was happy. I was stunned. After a few moments, I asked Lucas to ask Peter to tell my mom the next time he sees her that I miss her and that I love her. Lucas just looked at me and said, "She knows." It was strange. I sort of lost God after my mom died. I hadn't talked to my kids about God or angels, so when Lucas found a friend who was an angel, it made me think. I've thought a lot about angels and God since that day and it make sense to me that my son should see an angel (he tells me that everyone has one). I probably sound like a lunatic, but it gives me comfort, when I'm not around my kids, to know that they have an angel looking out for them. Now, every Sunday we watch TBAA together and we talk about the show. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Apr 1997 09:30:39 -0500 (CDT) From: Darla Bradley To: tbaangel @ . .execpc.com Subject: Facial expressions Jenn wrote: >And for all TBAA fans, Della and Roma (along with John) all have their >own way of putting actions and facial expressions into their words. >That's part of what makes this show so touching for me. Roma Downey played a recently deceased human who was periodically sent to earth as an angel to watch over children whose destinies were threatened. Her current mission was to be a governess in a tract home in Los Angeles. Tess was her cranky supervisor, the proprietor of a Victorian-style dollhouse shop in Santa Monica, California. Tess clearly didnt like Monica, nor was Monica particularly happy to be working with Tess. Neither of them had much use for the Angel of Death, an ironic, jaded troll-like fellow (played by Michael J. Pollard). And God was something of an adversary, the corporate head of a company that nobody seemed happy to be working for. The story dealt mostly with the angry family's struggles to deal with their mentally challenged little girl. Though unable to get much response from the child, Monica got her attention with 'magical' piano lessons and impressive special effects that stopped hurled objects in midair. Near the end, the Word comes down that a member of the family must die before the rest of the family can appreciate their blessings. And so, the family dog is run over by a speeding car. Monica, breaking 'the rules', raises the dog from the dead. The stunned family is reunited and they say good-bye to the mysterious Monica, never knowing that an angel has been in their midst. In an interesting twist, the story also invented a previous life for Monica. As a turn-of-the-century human, Monica had been killed while saving her child from a runaway horse and carriage. Then, breaking 'the rules' again, she visits her now-elderly daughter in a touching reunion. The piece ends with a midnight visit from Monica to the autistic child. After a few words of encouragement, Monica elicits a few words from the girl herself when the angel reveals her literal wings and elevates herself above the little girl's bed. To the child's delight, Monica spreads her computer-generated wings and flaps them up and down. Monica then flies out the window and back into the starry outer space universe from whence she came, back to the 'Angel's Attic', presumably where God, 'that practical joker', resides." By the way, the original pilot of Angels Attic was replacing another series Martha Williamson wanted to work on, called Under One Roof starring James Earl Jones (who appeared in the ep Clipped Wings), Joe Morton (Jacobs Ladder) and Vanessa Bell Calloway (The Driver). I am totally turned off by guys who get drunk and act stupid. These are usually the guys who are selfish and self centered! It is too bad that you live in New Zealand because I think the other USA women on this list will agree with me (IMO) that we like guys who can actually hold intellectual conversations and have more education other than the types of beers they drank and the parties they attended. We women like John Dye a lot because he exhibits wonderful qualities and feel that he is not into being drunk or going to parties. Like you, he is kind, compassionate, sensitive, and intelligent!
