I taped the episode "Angel of Death" because Hudson was on it. And I *loved* watching her as Callisto on Xena. I know it's probably bad to say this, but I think she plays an awesome evil character. When she was on TBAA however, I think that maybe the producers knew she was playing such an evil person on Xena, and wanted to change the viewers thoughts on what types of characters Hudson could play. You know...not stereotyping the actress. Instead...they stereotype the angel, maybe without realizing it. *shrug* Just an idea. We've had a lot of new people join since the last Celeste\Callisto dust up. I find it hard to see a sweet, kind, meek creature being played by Hudson. She's so good as an evil maniac. TBAA certainly has use for these characters (e.g, Kathleen). There are worse things than being typecast as a baddie if you make a decent career out of it, (Although Hudson may disagree), look at John Malkovich. With Lucy Lawless' hip healed, I fear that Callisto may be gone for good. I think it would be fun to see the evil side win one every so often, a Callisto style character would help. I think that she is a good addition to the show, she helps give them all a break. After all Monica, Tess, and John can't help everyone by themselves. I think one reason that she is being more angely is because she is new to human form. The basic premiss of her introduction was that she had just been givin a human form and was having to learn to deal with it. We don't know how long she has been an angel before getting promoted to case-worker. She might have been in the heavenly choir for centuries. And therefore, all she knows is how to be an angel. She hasn't learned to hide it so to be human yet. I feel that as we see her quest star in the show that her charater will change and develope into a more human one, and only be angely when she is delivering her message of hope form GOD. JMHO. I can't agree. I think she makes a very good (extremely naieve and innocent) angel. In fact, until someone pointed it out to me, I didn't even realize that this was the same actress who played the evil Callisto. And considering that I'd just "discovered" Callisto (when she guest-starred on _Hercules_; I was channel surfing) the day before, and never saw Hudson in any other roles before that (that I know of), IMHO, that says a lot about the actress's ability. >There are worse things than being typecast >as a baddie if you make a decent career out of it But being typecast can also be *very* bad for your career. Ask George Reeve (the original Superman) or Mark Hamil (I know, I'm showing my age ). Specifically, Hamil went back to stage shows after the _Star Wars_ trilogy because he was so typecast that (and I quote) "I was 35 years old and still being offered roles where I lost my virginity". That kind of "straightjacket" typecasting must be very frustrating for an actor, whether they're being limited to "good guy" or "bad guy" roles. Diane E # "Hydrogen. About Celeste: I think she's a great part-time angel, but I really hope they aren't considering making her a regular! Don't get me wrong - she's a real sweetie, and did a good jobb with her assignment on "Labor of Love", but perhaps she's a bit *too* sweet for our purposes. :) One thing I have thought about that no one else has brought up (that I've seen) is in "Clipped Wings", the Angel of Angels told Monica that she was "worthy of leadership". To me, that means she'll either be in charge of Celeste or Kathleen, whom I believe returned to "The Good Side" at the end of that episode. Anybody else? One last thing - I think I'm winning over yet another fan of the show!! I took some tapes of some of the many eps I have over to a friends house today. The only one she'd seen was "Have You Seen Me?", and she liked it, so I wanted her to see our angels in different types of roles. We watched "Labor of Love", "Missing in Action", "Interview with An Angel", "Something Blue", and finished off with "Into The Light". She was glued to that ep, believe me. I could tell by her tears that it said some things that she needed to hear, and I was gald to be a part of that. This show is so awesome. :) === Tina _____________________________________________________________________ Sent by RocketMail. I didn't care particularly much for all the Barbara Streisand stuff, and as always, they didn't give Roma nearly enough time, but the wedding scene was so neat :-) One comment though - Did anyone notice how Roma seemed to be looking for someone/thing out in the audience? Curious. I also have to say that although she is a gorgeous person, and I love her hair, I didn't care too much for the pseudo bee-hive thing - just my personal preferance(just like I feel that John really needs to lose the ponytail). 'Nuff said. Oh, and on Susan's comment: > Visiting angels are always great..and TBAA picks great ones, but I don't need > or want any other "regular" angels in the middle of our trio... I agree wholeheartedly - it clutters up the storylines and continuity too much to keep track of all the characters. I'd actually like to see more shows featuring Della - we don't get to see her in the forefront too often, but that's just mho. Also, thanks for telling me about the opening credits. Now I know where John's pics came from. Hope your power didn't go out, and you saw "Rosie". Finally, thank you for telling me about the "Daily News" date! Judy, I agree that "Rosie" should have all three "angels" on! I think she would make it fun; they would get to talk more, also. Oh, Diana, that reminds me. I sent you an e-mail this week, but it looks as if it was "eaten". Anyway, let me know if you ever received it, or not. Thanks. Hey, DYEGOOD @ .addy.com: I have a Best Buy and a Blockbuster near to me. I'll have to try both. Thanks for the tip! Does anyone think that Blockbuster is going to notice the sudden interest in "Campus Man" (thanks to Susan :) ! ) ? BTW, what else have I missed about TBAA on "Access Hollywood", besides Roma's make up job on "MIA" ? Susan, where did you hear about the "Little Mermaid"? Were these shows recent? Thanks. What's LJU? Love Juice United, Love Juice University? Oh, well. Just thought I'd guess :) !!! Diane E. : I never even considered the extra latex and makeup Roma would have to wear with her hair up in "MIA". Very good point. I'm sure the amount she had on was uncomfortable (sp) enough. Miche, hello from a fellow Waldenbooks employee! "Written In Dust" is the name of the episode you love so much. It recently repeated ! I also thought that this was a well-written, well done show. Hmmm..."Celeste" (sp?). Well, I'm not sure I like her, either. I'm still deciding. I also don't think anyone else needs to be added to the trio. BTW, what is Hudson's first name. She does an excellent job as "Callisto" on "Zena" - such an evil character. On the other hand, "Celeste" is the complete opposite - such a pure character. Maybe that's one of the reason's I'm still adjusting to "Celeste". Too "haloy"? Perhaps a bit so. Well, we'll see. Ok, guys. That's it for now.
