Man
Arizona State University student Todd Barrett is a promising business
student. He is the king of money making schemes - creating a calendar
of ASU Girls and trying to sell them to everyone in sight. Todd has
a close set of friends - his best childhood friend and roommate, Brett; his
dancer friend Dayna and her roommate Molly. The film opens with Todd
sleeping through yet another business class.
Here he is outlining his plan to run the world to his business professor
and getting advice about pacing himself. His professor tells him he's
one of his best students, but he just received notice that his tuition is
overdue. Not to worry, he's applied for a scholarship he can't possibly
lose.
This picture isn't really crucial to the plot - it was just too cute
not to use. So sue me!
After class it's off to the pool to watch buddy Brett, king of the diving
team and to tell him about the birthday party he has planned for tonight.
He stops to chat with "the girls" Dayna and Molly. He doesn't
know that his friend Dayna is crazy about Brett. He also doesn't realize
that the antagonistic relationship he has with Molly will soon turn interesting.
After talking to Brett, Todd goes to the financial aid office to
check on his scholarship, only to find that he didn't get the scholarshipand
is too late to get a loan. That leaves him 30 days to come up with $10,000
He arrives at home to the party already in full swing. In no mood
for a party, Todd makes his way through the crowd and into his room, where
he goes into "thinking mode", sitting on his bed with his blanket over his
head. Brett sees the look on Todd's face and knows that something is
wrong. He ends the party and goes to Todd's room to find out what is
wrong.
Brett asks what the problem is and although he can't help with the money,
offers to do anything that he can to help. Then he reminds Todd that if anyone
can pull this off, he can.
