A few days later, Katherine meets with Todd and Brett over lunch. She presents her offer and Brett, while flattered, tells her that he is going to concentrate on diving - so thanks, but no thanks.
When Brett steps away to get a phone call, Todd and Katherine plot to change Brett's mind. Katherine offers to take them out, to show there's no hard feelings.
Katherine drops them off after their big night out - blitzed. Right after this shot, Todd passes out on the lawn.
The next day Todd and Katherine meet to discuss strategy and the contract. Todd assures her he will get it signed somehow.
Todd arranges a calendar signing and then tries to slip the contract under the calendar. Brett gets upset and Todd leaves. Later they have a talk and Brett tells Todd to just leave him alone. Todd, feeling the pressure from CJ and Katherine, gets upset and leaves Brett to fume.
Todd returns home to find a note from CJ, stuck in the door with a knife. He knows the game is up. What is he going to do? He puts the note in his desk drawer and leaves.
Brett returns home and takes a call for Todd. Looking for a notepad, he finds the note and reads it and finally understands why Todd has been hounding him to sign the contract.
The contract is finally signed.
